Sharing the Gospel message of Hope, Joy, and Purpose with the people of Japan
Hi, I’m Gareth!
After praying a prayer about God’s calling on my life in 2025, I began to develop a compassion in my heart for the nation of Japan. As I began to learn more and more about the nation and its people, I couldn’t help but be enamored by it all. So much about the Japanese culture and people resonated with me, and yet I also was aware of the deep spiritual need in Japan for hope, joy and purpose. Things that I had previously seen and not been drawn to, suddenly felt captivating to me, and I continued to pray and discern what all of it meant, and the path ahead.
Currently I am in the process of preparing to head to Japan as a long term missionary, and there is a lot of preparation that goes into it all (more than I had expected at the very least). Check out the ‘My Ministry’ page or my videos to see more about that!

The Cost of being a Missionary
Being a missionary isn’t a job as much as it is a calling. Like most missionaries, I will not be paid a set wage or salary, but rather I will be relying on the support of my church and other supporters.
“Do you not know that those who are employed in the temple service get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the sacrificial offerings? In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel.” 1 Corinthians 9:13-14 ESV
My budget, factoring in expenses for living in Japan, setting aside money for superannuation, and ministry costs such as language school is $4000 AUD/month. You can see the current support progress on the pie chart:
